Match observations:
And so it came to pass, with Taboo Tuesday just a few days away, Chris Benoit
remains the WWE Champion, and he must now face one challenge out of Triple H,
Batista, and Christian. Both Hunter and Batista picked up big wins on behalf
of Evolution tonight, while Christian will obviously be looking for another
chance at the Championship, especially as it was the pain of the Crossface that
caused him to pass out, not tap out, here tonight.
Three other titles changed hands tonight, two of which did so in controversial
fashion. We have a new Cruiserweight Champion in Tajiri, but it wasn't the
champion that he pinned, as Rey Mysterio no-showed, and was replaced in the
match by Christopher Daniels. Mysterio was allegedly stripped of the title due
to the no-show, and Tajiri's win allowed him to take the vacant title.
The other controversial title change came in the IC title match. While Chono
did pin the champion Cactus Jack, the final fall ended in a DQ, which is not
normally the correct manner for a title to change hands. Some argue that the
match should have been restarted, while others say that the title should have
reverted to Cactus Jack, the original champion. As it stands, Chono is the
champion, but JBL has been added to the IC title ballot for Taboo Tuesday, with
tonight's qualifiers, Goldust, Charlie Haas and John Cena. At this moment in
time, Cactus Jack has been frozen out in the cold.
The other title that changed hands was the Tag Team Championship. No debates
or controversy here though, just total annihilation, as The Undertaker and Kane
steamrollered through AJ Styles and Raven in less than a minute. No word yet
as to who will face the champs at Taboo Tuesday, although it's rumoured that
there will be a choice between established teams and the losers of the World
Title ballot.
With just one more Raw to go before Taboo Tuesday, and the voting opening up
tomorrow night, you'd better be careful not to blink, or else you might miss a
vital piece of action!
