Evolution set another challenge for Smackdown. Val Venis and Edge defeated The Kliq (Scott Hall and X-Pac) when Edge pinned X-Pac after a spear in 0:05:35. Rating: ** 1/2 Interesting if uneventful tag match. Edge will face X-Pac at Backlash in a one on one match, while Venis, as we already know, will face Hall. Jamie Noble pinned AJ Styles after a power bomb in 0:13:43. Rating: *** 3/4 Big win for Noble, in a rather good match. Interview: Jeff Jarrett speaks... Click here to see highlights. Rating: **** Fantastic match, with Foley getting the big win. Chris Benoit was watching on from the backstage area. Steve Austin defeated Chris Benoit by disqualification in 0:05:30. Rating: * 1/2 [Paul Heyman, and Chris Jericho interfered against Steve Austin.] Chris Jericho's chair shot left Austin open to be double-teamed by Benoit and Y2J. Mick Foley eventually came out to save Stone Cold. Interview: Ready for the main event... Click here to see highlights. Lesnar is talking tough, while the Warrior is still talking gibberish. Match with Special Referee Bret Hart: Kane and William Regal defeated Brock Lesnar and The Ultimate Warrior when Regal defeated U. Warrior when U. Warrior passed out in a bow-and-arrow submission in 0:23:30. Rating: * 3/4 After the match, the Warrior was angry at Bret Hart's decision to stop the match. The Hitman, however, stood by his ground, before flipping the Warrior off. Card rating: ** 1/2 Match observations: Backlash is hotting up with the action from tonight. Thanks to Bret Hart's snappy, and many would say correct, refereeing decision, the Ultimate Warrior's name is in the losers column for tonight. Will that be the case at Backlash, or can the WWE Champion put this defeat behind him to retain against the former champ? Also, it seems as though The Rock may seriously be contemplating joining with Triple H and Ric Flair in Evolution, judging by the way he no-showed the whole event, and was not around to help Hulk Hogan, who was subject to a four on one attack, before the tag champs could save him. Jeff Jarrett claimed that he faked his pass out on Smackdown. Only he knows the real truth about that. However, he may well get his just desserts at the hands of Rob Van Dam come Backlash. Chris Jericho's rivalry with Steve Austin began to hot up tonight, as Y2J made a big statement by taking out Stone Cold with a vile chair shot. After Mick Foley was able to save Austin from the attack of the Canadian Chrisses, it was announced that Jericho and Benoit would face Austin and Foley in a cage match on Smackdown. Also, Smackdown will see the big 4 on 4 elimination match. But will The Rock be there, or will Hogan, HBK and Nash need a new partner? We'll find out this Thursday night. Next Show: Smackdown
