Match observations:
Another great night of action, with a further four matches earning four or more
stars here tonight. In the match of the night, Chris Benoit went another step
closer to establishing himself as the greatest Intercontinental Champion of
all time, with a hard fought victory over Bret Hart.
Goldberg also fought to extinguish the horrors of Unforgiven, by getting a win
over Matt Hardy here tonight. However, the Sensei of Mattitude certainly gave
Bill a run for his money.
The actions of Nick Patrick here tonight were nothing short of reprehensible.
After Rey Mysterio worked so hard to win the Cruiserweight Title, it was the
shoddy officiating of Patrick that made it all seem worth nothing. However,
Tajiri was also less than impressed with the way he won the belt, and he has
agreed to give Rey a rematch. This has been signed for No Mercy, and just so
that there won't be any dubious counts this time around, the match will be a
ladder match.
This Thursday on Smackdown, there will be an eight man singles tournament to
determine the number 1 contender to the WWE title. We know already that Chris
Jericho will be involved, but we'll have to wait and see who the other seven
superstars will be. The winner will go on to No Mercy to face The Rock!
