Shane McMahon makes a rather special 6 man tag match, and adds a stipulation to Hogan vs Kane for the Great American Bash. The Dudley Boys (Bubba Ray Dudley and D-Von Dudley) defeated The Hardy Boyz (Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy) when Bubba pinned M. Hardy after the Dudley Death Drop in 0:15:23. Rating: ***** An absolutely amazing way to start off Raw - a five-star tag match. After the match, the Dudleys looked to put Jeff Hardy through a table, but Spike Dudley ran down to make the save. However, the joy was shortlived, when almost out of nowhere, Rhyno showed up and gored Spike through a table. Jerry Lynn defeated Marty Jannetty by countout in 0:01:24. Rating: ** A pretty pointless match between two guys whose contracts expire tonight. Who knows whether they will be re-signed or not? Interview: The Great Americans... Click here to see highlights. JBL and Kurt Angle call out Edge and Val Venis for a No.1 Contenders match. Edge and Val Venis defeated The Great Americans (Kurt Angle and John Bradshaw Layfield) when Venis pinned JBL after the Money Shot in 0:19:01. Rating: *** 3/4 Edge and Val Venis picked up the win, leaving Angle and JBL frustrated at their failure to earn a title shot. Masahiro Chono pinned Rene Dupree after a power bomb in 0:01:44. Rating: ** Chono made incredibly short work of Rene Dupree. After the match, Brock Lesnar entered the ring, leading to a stare down, and then a brawl between him and Chono. Officials ran to the ring to break them apart. Interview: Words from the Bad Guy... Click here to see highlights. Scott Hall plans to put his career back on track. Vader pinned Scott Hall with the Vader Bomb in 0:13:48. Rating: ** 3/4 Hall fought hard, but ultimately was unable to subdue the force of Vader. Elimination First Blood No-Countout-No-DQ-Match: The Big Show, Steve Austin and Hollywood Hogan beat Randy Orton, Ted DiBiase and Kane 3 falls to 1: x Big Show beat Kane in 0:01:08 x Hollywood beat Orton in 0:11:22 x double juice (S. Austin and DiBiase) in 0:21:49 Survivors: The Big Show, Hollywood Hogan Rating: *** 3/4 Click here to see highlights. Shane McMahon's plan backfired, as it was the team that he backed who ended up all getting busted open. Although Stone Cold saw red as well, Hollywood Hogan and The Big Show both survived. Card rating: *** Match observations: A rather good night of action, as we edge ever closer to the Great American Bash. Shane McMahon's plan to bust open Hogan, Austin and Big Show managed to fail miserably, as although Austin got busted, all three of Kane, Randy Orton and Ted DiBiase spilt the juice as well. You can only imagine how cross Shane O Mac is going to be come Smackdown. Following the aftermath of tonight's five-star tag opener, a rather special match has been added to the card for the Great American Bash. It will be a six man tables match, with the Dudley Boys and Rhyno taking on the Hardyz and Spike Dudley. That should be a rather wild contest. Also signed, to complete the card, is an 8-man special attraction match, with The Great Americans, Triple H and Vader facing Thug Life, Scott Hall and Terry Funk. It would seem that JBL and Angle get to appear on the PPV after all. The brawl between Masahiro Chono and Brock Lesnar tonight was pretty brutal. It wouldn't surprise me if those two had to be kept well apart on Smackdown. Do not expect their match at the Bash to be anything like Chono's squash of Rene Dupree here tonight though.
