(The Camera cuts backstage, where Josh Matthews is standing by with Edge. )

Josh Matthews:
Edge, last week you launched a brutal attack on Val Venis, a man with whom you
were the tag team champions just a few weeks ago. Usually, such a feud would
lead to a Pay Per View confrontation, so why are you aiming to settle your
apparent differences with Venis right here tonight?

Edge:
It's simply because I have better things to do than waste my time with guys
like Val Venis, who are not in my league. Josh, for months, Val Venis held me
back by keeping me in the tag team ranks, when I could have been building to a
shot at the WWE title. If it wasn't for Val Venis, I could have been in the 8
man tournament for the Taboo Tuesday ballot spot, but as it is, I have been
overlooked. I didn't even want this match tonight, as I don't need to prove
myself against Val Venis, but it seems that he has a misguided idea that he
can get some kind of "revenge" against me.

Well, Val, it's not happening because you are nothing compared to me. Take a
look, because what you see right in front of you is the biggest star in World
Wrestling Entertainment today. You can watch those other guys bicker over who
they think the belt belongs to, but at the end of the day, all they're doing
is overlooking the true future champion, and that's me. And that will be the
last mistake they make.
