(As Smackdown comes on the air, a pre-taped video from Shane McMahon gets the
show started. )

Shane McMahon:
Last Monday night on Raw, we had an 8-man tag team main event, featuring the
team of Chris Benoit, The Rock, Chris Jericho and my fellow commissioner Roddy
Piper, going up against all four members of Evolution. The stipulation was
simple. If any member of Evolution was able to pin Chris Benoit or make him
submit, then that member would become number 1 contender to Benoit's title.

Well, as you all saw, Chris Jericho pinned Ric Flair, and as a result, Benoit
does not have a number 1 contender. However, right here tonight, when all is
said and done, we will have a number 1 contender, because I am ordering, right
here tonight, a rematch from last Monday on Raw, only with a few changes to
the stipulation. If Chris Benoit's team wins the match, then Chris Benoit will
get to pick the number 1 contender himself. But if any member of Evolution
defeats any member of Chris Benoit's team, then the number 1 contender for the
WWE Title at Unforgiven will be...Triple H.

You see, Triple H proved to me that he wanted to be the Champion more than any
one else when he stole Chris Benoit's belt on Monday night. That's why I feel
that he should be the man to represent Evolution at the show, if the
opportunity arises. As far as the belt is concerned, it has been returned to me,
and I have ensured that it was then returned to Chris Benoit, but after
Unforgiven, I suggest that Mr. Benoit get used to a much longer period of time
without the belt.

Thank you very much, and enjoy tonight's event.
