Just a few days after the last Smackdown, WWE Tag Team Champion Taka Michinoku
decided to leave World Wrestling Entertainment.  As a result, I was left with
no choice but to strip him and Funaki of the Tag Team Championship.

Tonight, here at Summerslam, we will see two four corner elimination tag team
matches, with the winners squaring off later tonight for the WWE Tag Team
Championship.  In the interests of fairness, I have allowed Funaki to enter
into this tournament of sorts, with the tag team partner of his choosing.  Mr
Funaki has selected Tajiri to be his partner.
