(As Raw returns from commercial, Josh Matthews is stood in the ring.)

Josh Matthews:
Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome back to WWE, the former WWE Champion, Bret
'Hitman' Hart!

(To a thunderous ovation from the fans, Bret Hart makes his way down to the
ring.)

Josh Matthews:
Bret, you have amazed the doctors by returning from your tricep injury much
quicker than anticipated, and now at Backlash, you will have the opportunity
to win back the WWE title from the Ultimate Warrior, in a match that should
have headlined Wrestlemania just last night. But Bret, my first question is,
how does it feel to be back?

Bret Hart:
Well you know Josh, it feels great to be back. I worked damn hard to get that
World Title at No Way Out, and then to have it ripped from my grasp almost
immediately, due to injury, was just awful. I knew that belt was slippery,
but I didn't know exactly how slippery it could be.

But the fact of the matter is, although I lost that belt, I was never beaten
for it, so technically I'm still the champion around here. Take nothing away
from Brock Lesnar or the Ultimate Warrior, but as far as I'm concered, until
the Warrior beats me, he can't truthfully call himself the champion. He can
not say that he is the absolute best. But at Backlash, we get to find out
exactly who is the best.

Now Josh, tonight is not about the title, not for me anyway. Before I get the
title back, I've got a spot of revenge on my mind. And that relates to one
Chris Jericho, the man who was responsible for me having to vacate the belt.

So Jericho, if you're not still nursing a bruised ego from the way you got your
ass kicked by Shawn Michaels last night, I recommend you get yourself ready,
because tonight you go one on one with me, again. And this time, if anybody's
getting hurt, it's gonna be you. I don't take too kindly to guys in this
business who take pleasure in injuring others. And Jericho, tonight you'll
find out first hand exactly why you don't hit a hitman and you never try to
break a Hart.
