Click here to see highlights. To the delight of the Edmonton crowd, and the WWE roster, Chris Benoit managed to become the WWE Champion by defeating Goldberg by 2 falls to 1. As the show drew to a close, it was clear that the jewel in the nWo crown had clearly lost its shine. Card rating: *** 1/2 Match observations: Tonight was possibly the worst night for the nWo since it reformed. Despite Scott Steiner taking the Intercontinental Championship, the Million $ Team failed to become tag champs, Jeff Jarrett, Randy Orton and even the nWo leader Hollywood Hogan were all pinned, and then to top it all off, Chris Benoit was able to take the WWE title back home by beating Goldberg by 2 falls to 1. The only bad thing that has to be taken into consideration is that the nWo still controls the book, and therefore they'll be out for revenge tomorrow night on Raw. Another title that changed hands tonight was the Cruiserweight title, which was won back by Tajiri against Matt Hardy and Rey Mysterio. That belt is rather notorious for changing hands quickly, but also for producing great matches from the cruiserweights in the company. It'll be interesting to see who's up for the belt next. Steven Richards got a victory, albeit somewhat tainted, over Shawn Michaels here tonight. Michaels was said to be disappointed about the loss, but more concerned with getting revenge on Kevin Nash for his involvement in the match. We also got a glimpse of the old-school monster Kane here tonight, as he destroyed Val Venis. After the Big Valbowski kicked out of two choke slams, the Big Red Machine went crazy, putting Venis through two tables with the Tombstone, before returning him to the ring for a third choke slam. Kane may well be a legitimate first contender for Benoit's title, unless the nWo puts someone in his way. Next Show: Raw
